Outdoor rooms

architecture in the landscape

The outdoor room is an entertaining, reclusive or recreational space such as a cabana, man cave or pavilion. Mostly roofed and with one or two partially enclosed walls the space is able to be easily transformed for year round use.

The everyday pergola and patio has been all but dropped from the vernacular of modern landscape design. Whilst these structures still have a place in our gardens the outdoor room has stolen the show in urban landscapes.

As a built structure the array of uses is limited by your own needs, often a kitchen, wet bar and or lounge can be included. Features such as woodfire ovens, char grills or fire places are included.
