Jannawi Pavilion

Engaged by Macquarie University to provide concept design development for an outdoor cultural gathering space, in association with Walanga Muru. Walanga Muru is the University’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student engagement and strategy office.

The concept master plan was prepared that is centred on a circular covered pavilion. The pavilion sits atop an existing embankment creating a vantage point to capture views to the northwest. The pavilion creates a venue for formal functions and also student gatherings.

The landscape incorporates existing features of flag poles and a reconciliation sculpture. Massed native plantings including a Bush Tucker Grove soften the sandstone log terraces. Informal seating areas for small groups, are also nestled into the base of the embankment.
